Ready the boats! Ready the celebs! It’s the 2016 Venice Film Festival
The last two best picture Oscar-winners have premiered at the Venice Film Festival, and it the buzz is that it might happen again. So any movie that is any movie has to be there, including many a-list celebrities. This year Michael Fassbender and his girlfriend Alicia Vikander are there to promote their movie The Light Between Oceans, as well as Emma Stone to promote La La Land (although her co-star Ryan Gosling is not in attendance and is off filming the Untitled Blade Runner Sequel that also stars joker Jared Leto).
There are of course various supermodels on the scene also, such as Bianca Balti and Barbara Palvin (Barbara Palvin who is attending this year with her boyfriend formula one racer Louis Hamilton).
The Venice Film Festival or Venice International Film Festival (Italian: Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica della Biennale di Venezia, “International Exhibition of Cinematographic Art of the Venice Biennale”), founded in 1932, is the oldest film festival in the world and one of the “Big Three” film festivals alongside the Cannes Film Festival and Berlin International Film Festival.
The film festival is part of the Venice Biennale, which was founded by the Venetian City Council in 1895. Today, the Biennale includes a range of separate events including: the International Art Exhibition;
… the International Festival of Contemporary Music; the International Theatre Festival; the International Architecture Exhibition; the International Festival of Contemporary Dance; the International Kids’ Carnival; and the annual Venice Film Festival, which is arguably the best-known of all the events.
